Plot Summary
The Demon Lord continues his adventure in this revamped series! After encountering the mysterious entity in the lowest level of the Bastille Dungeon, he sets out for Hellion Territory, where Grand Devils vie for domination of the realm. With the addition of a new advisor—the (seemingly) hopeless optimist Akane—the Demon Lord's army grows even more colorful, and their hijinks even wackier.

I've decided to be more lenient to shows this season, though, so I'll give it a little time to give me a reason to watch. From what I remember, the action and adventure aspects of the show were pretty much nonexistent in the first season, and the main character spent most of his time building a resort spa.

I'm not sure why they did this little flashback episode, other than to tell more about his background, may as well have just done a recap of season 1 though...but I assume that MIki guy or whoever he is must play a big part in season 2.

The director was the real hero of the first season of this. They knew how to work with a low budget and still make the animation as dynamic as possible within those confines.

Some web searching the first season was an adaptation of the light novel and that style, but now they're trying to 'continue' the story using the manga version.

And now, a remake of a rather forgettable show that I'm surprised is getting a redo. It begins with a flashback as the MC remembers how he made his game one of the most-played games ever and how he had to pull a lot of strings to make it happen. And then comes the time when the game's popularity is well past its peak and is ready to shut down, but he gets isekaied into the world of the game as his demon lord avatar. And there he meets a couple girls, then goes to take a soak at the hot springs where another girl walks by having not read the signs that she was on the men's side. While this show at least gets off to a better start, it isn't doing it for me at all.

@Xuhybrid It's not actually a reboot. The first ep does a good bit of recapping, but also adds some stuff we hadn't seen before, then ends up where the first show left off.

I do remember season one wasn’t spectacular but it was enjoyable, so I’m setting the bar there for this season.
It’s definitely better than mid, just not five star material. Looking forward to next week, since I think we’ve finally reached the point where “we’re done getting oriented and recapping from last season, no we can go forward with new stuff”
Of course now the question is- when the dub comes around how many of the original cast will return; something tells me not everyone will be reprising their characters

I absolutely HATE the new character designs & artstyle. Season 1 was trash, but at least it was entertaining trash. I’ll stick around for 1 more episode since Yukikaze will apparently be part of it, but if they nerf him like everyone else so far (Killer Queen & Yu in particular 😭), I’m done.

I enjoyed the story and pacing in season 1 but the animation was an afterthought.
so far this season the art seems on par with all the other crap out there but the story is MIA

He said if anyone was going to 'grant' a wish, he'd be enough to do the granting (without the ring).

He's afraid of magic, his game body has no resistance to it unlike physical things. He's hoping to farm magic protection items.

@Xuhybrid I think I remember him saying something about being vulnerable to magic in the first episode. There are so many things they are jumping around between right now though, that they really should have reiterated some things in the last episode. Like why he went to this dungeon and who the heck this bad guy noble is and how is he entangled with demon lord. I think the recap episode could have been used better than it was too.

Having rewatched the first season then gone right into this again.....my GOD is the season 2 art terrible compared to season 1. Which is really saying something given season 1 looks like it had a budget of $50 an episode.
The character redesigns are terrible and even most of the VAs are different. The Demon Lord's VA is basically the only one that came back for season 2. So nobody looks right or sounds right. Since season 2 decided to reanimate a number of season 1's scenes you can make direct comparisons and season 2 looks awful.
Season 2 seems to have its own unique style as it doesn't match the novel or manga either. But on that note season 1 doesn't really match either. The manga, novel and novel reprint all have different artists, styles and character designs. Why season 2 couldn't have just at least follow the manga or novel designs if it didn't follow season 1's I have no idea.

This show is a damn hot mess....this episode was just a bunch of random jumping around and it wasn't even trashy in the "we are embracing the trash" sort of way that season 1 did.

The music in this show is awful. It makes every scene worse. The times in this show where there's a halfway decent scene gets totally undercut by the bad music.

One of the things I liked the first season was his interaction with his harem, but there's been almost none of that this season.

Having watched the first episode, even this early i can tell the music is very out of place and misused. Not to mention the awful art and half assed voice acting. I think i'll just take all your feedback at face value and spare myself from this mess early.

It feels like the Story is being inflicted on the main character without him being an active participant in it.
He just kind of shows up and the story happens around him until he says "enough of this nonsense" and then slaps everything and everyone

@zkeleton This has happened to a number of anime i've liked or at least enjoyed passably. I think the last one was season 2 of Fruit of Evolution now i'm not saying it was anything special but you could feel the malice and hatred of the people making S2 like they were being forced to make it.

@zkeleton The director has also brought us other fine shows like The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases, Temple and The Dreaming Boy Is A Realist. He has directed 1 or 2 decent shows so he is capable if he tries and doesn't loath the source material.

Just when I was going to say the main reason the story is so hard to follow is because there's been almost no exposition they go and have a scene with some actual exposition. Still, I think that was maybe only the third time all season since the first episode.

@zkeleton Art style was wildly different. Seems like a completely different studio. Panties and nipples through clothes all over this episode.
